Oh incredible! Stunning, compelling, mesmerizing. Tangible poetry, beautiful prose, and true heart. This book is for everyone and anyone who is fiercely concerned and aware of the state of the world in which we find ourselves, and even more so, for anyone who is seeking that genuine connection of personal heart to the "heart of all life".Distance Becomes Sky exceeded my expectations in many ways - I felt that in reading the story I was wandering through a beautiful forest and climbing a mountain, where there is the tangible excitement and energy of the climb as a climactic moment of expanded vision, and that energy of the pinnacle's vast perspective pushes you on, yet every step, every moment before that height is part and parcel of the entire experience. No sentence or word was out of place or "filler" material - each aspect of the story and unfolding vision raised the energetic momentum so it was hard to break away until I read the very last words. Then having finished the book, there is the sense of wanting to read again, and delve deeper. Ah beautiful!
It's true that this book is a vision you can hold in your hands and submerge yourself in, to find (perhaps) that this vision is not at all far from our own reality.
Well done and a huge thank you to Rachel Olds, even though I never met you in person, your heart extends through this book like rainbow rays of light.

This visionnary novel has touched my heart more than any other I have read before. Very precious to read it in this dark age
Eloquent narrative style. This story is written with great heart and vision. Rachel's deep relationship with all life shines through.
Distance Becomes Sky is a powerful and profound novel written with a poet’s sense of language and place. Set in a post-apocalyptic Earth in the not too distant future, the few escapees from the few pockets of surviving Orwellian culture are surprised to discover nature has been reclaiming the Earth. They are taken in by the established, small bands of the People who escaped years before and co-created a new society based in sharing, love and mutual respect. The new arrivals are de-programmed as they are received and incorporated into these simple, Earth-based cultures.
The culture modeled by the People is humane and harmonious; it is simplified, expressing a spontaneous and natural sanctity which provides a stark contrast to the progressive insanity and alienation of the toxic, polarized, materialistic and genocidal arc of our current world’s momentum.
The book is a page-turner and the emerging vision is both realistic and inspiring. My only warning would be for you to be prepared – you may find the way of the People very enticing. Enjoy!
